DAILYLOOK Collaboration

Hello loves,

This past break I was contacted by DAILYLOOK.com to be in their Little Black dress challenge! It was an honor because I love the clothes from Dailylook.com! They have a variety of clothes for every budget, especially for us (college students!) I’ll be the first to admit that I cannot save money to save my life but this website has a ton of nice things that vary from budget to style.

For the challenge, I had to chose a little black dress and transform it from day to night. Below I have included both of my style sets and an explanation for each.

I absolutely love this look for various reasons.
1. It is casual and comfortable. I love wearing sneakers now and superga’s are simple but fashionable. They are easy to style and to dress up.
2. Fashion Forward Pieces – The bomber jacket is amazing. I love the acid wash material, I love that it is a regular denim jacket, and I love that it is quilted. I think this adds a stylish feel to the overall look without trying too hard (sequins, etc.)
3. And lastly, I love that dress. I chose this dress because I don’t think anyone would dress it down. The dress is sexy but not too revealing and I’m currently obsessed with midi’s.
For my night look I wanted to go for a more elegant feel. I would use dark heavy makeup such as mascara, liquid eyeliner to make a winged liner and bronzer!
1. The shoes – Plain but shiny. i wanted to remain loyal to what’s “in” and that is one strap heels. But I liked that the front strap was thick and designed.
2. The blazer and Belt – This completes the outfit. It would have to be belted around mid-belly so that the plunging neck line shows but you’re still covered.
3. Hair – SLICKED BACK IN A LOW BUN. This is detrimental because you have a heavy chest with this outfit and you want to keep your hair out of the way.
Make sure to check out DAILYLOOK to see all the outfit posts for the challenge!

Holiday Week

Hello my loves!

As the holidays come to an end, I would like to recap with you all the outfit choices I made this holiday season. It must’ve been by coincidence but black was IT. From my newsfeed, to my cousins, to my emails, everyone was in black. This year I chose to go for basic and simple for Christmas. As some of you may know based on Instagram, my cousin was in a really bad accident Dec 21st, 2014 and it has taken a big toll on me and my family. The holidays were a little different but the unity of my family could not be stronger. I’ll post some pictures and descriptions down below.

Christmas 2014

IMG_4042Although me and my family were undergoing a very difficult time, the presents must always make an appearance at our holiday gathering/dinner. It is tradition that we do a Secret Santa (something I totally LOVE!) and that we open gifts one by one at 12AM. This year was no different and although Robert was missing, he was in all of our prayers and we know he is in safe hands at the Hospital. For my attire, I chose to go preppy and comfortable. My favorite go-to shoe are my H&M leather booties ($34.95). I also have become overly obsessed with tights and skirts for the winter. I used to hate doing that as a child but now I’m starting to realize that my style must not IMG_3058be hidden in the winter. It should be altered and embraced differently – something I’ve been abiding to the entire break. So for this fit I am wearing:

1. Brandy Melville Black Knitted Back Slit Sweater

2. Brandy Melville Pleated Ruffle Skirt

3. H&M 40 Den Tights

4. H&M Black Booties – Similar Here

Now, Ill talk about some outfit choices I made in between the Holidays. The only days where I actually had to wear anything that took effort was for my two close friends’ sIMG_8694urprise birthday party. Unfortunately, I didn’t take a full outfit picture for Kayleena’s birthday surprise but I posted a mirror pic of the top and my hair choice. I am no obsessed with wearing mIMG_0788y hair in a mid pony tail. I decided to wear a graphic tee from Zara (which I got for $13 with their amazing sale!!), wear my silver chain (thank you babe!) with light wash skinny jeans from Pacsun and my H&M booties. I paired it all with my olive green military jacket from Banana Republic (below) and the navy blue and green Tory Burch bag. I kept accessories simple and did more with my makeup by accentuating my eyebrows and working with my contour kit and highlighter. It was a simple girls’ night outfit!

The next birthday was Tahis’ and it was a surprise at her boyfriends house…which she ruined. LOL. But beyond that. The Zara Sale has truly IMG_0927 5been a blessing and I have been obsessed with all the items I scored. In the picture, although you might not be able to tell – I am wearing:

1. Zara Oversized Soft Knit Sweater

2. Liquid Faux Leather Leggings – Necessary Clothing (similar here)IMG_0914

3. Black Booties – H&M

4. J.Cat Wonder Lip Paint – Red Potion (here)

P.S. my little blue quilted patent leather clutch is actually my ipsy bag from October! (amazing isn’t it!?) I got so many compliments and just laughed inside!

Once again, my hair is in a half up-do but this time while it is curly. I’m learning to embrace the beauty of the texture of my hair and the trial period has actually been fun. YIKES!

With everything still going on with my cousin, this new years was not a huge party. But that didn’t mean I was going to take out all of the fun out by not dressing up. I’ll be completely honest, I had no clue what I would be wearing when I woke up that morning. I didn’t sleep at home Tuesday night so I ran home (well Uber’ed my ass home!) on New Years Eve. I had to make the lasagna for our dinner and help my mom around the house and do my hair. By then it was 6pm and I still had zero clue what I’d be wearing. I got extremely lucky and was able to receive my ASOS package on time that same morning (which contained a full midi skirt, a black turban head wrap, and a textured black knit). I tried everything with the skirt but wasn’t feeling it until I tried on a mesh collar black crop top I bought from Forever21 months ago. And the final result was:

I’ll start with explaining my make up.

1. Milani Easy Brow Mechanical Pencil – $7.49 (at any drugstore)

2. Maybelline FIT Me Foundation – I love it! I’ve used it for over 2.5 years and it is really more of a natural look than anything.

3. Wet N Wild Lipstick – in Plum (here)

4. Anastasia Contour Kit – Sephora or Ulta (I used Java to thin out my cheeks and then a mixture of Banana and Sand to highlight.

5. NYX Bronzer/Blush ComboIMG_7819

6. tarte – Lights, Camera, Lashes 4-in-1 Mascara (here)

Here is the complete look of the night. I straightened my hair and parted it down the middle and kept it slicked back for a dramIMG_3306atic look. I wore a black Guess Clutch and kept it simple by wearing ankle-strapped black pumps I bought at Charlotte Russe (similar here)!

I’ll admit that this look was difficult for me to try but I’m trying to embrace my personal style and this is just the beginning.

Fall Wrap-Up

My fellow readers,

I wish I would’ve been more attentive to this blog as I had promised. But of course, that wasn’t the case. 19 credits during a school semester along with sorority duties, Senior Editor responsibilities, and a job = recipe for a disaster AKA me. But now that one of my wishes has come true, I truly to do promise to keep you guys up to date with my life, my fashion endeavors, and much more.

Now for the hard part, trying to summarize the entire semester. Since I physically won’t be able to I’ll compose a list of things I loved from the fall.

1. Turtle-necks: You literally cannot go wrong with this. Whether is a turtle neck thick knit dress or a fitted turtle neck shirt, they always work. They make any outfit look chic and conservative. I wore this a couple days ago and its one of my favorite outfits!

Outfit Details

Sweater Dress: Brandy Melville (similar here)

Leggings: American Apparel (here)

Short socks: Hanes

Converse: Beige Hi-tops

Bag: Tory Burch (similar here)

2. Floppy Hats: Not a summer hat. But a elegant one in muted colors such as burgundy, black, brown, gray, or beige.

3. Pleated Skirts: Match with opaque tights and booties and a sweater for a preppy but chic look.

Tights for the winter!

4. TIGHTS!!!!: It is not just because I’m obsessed with Blair Waldorf’s persona – tights are essential for the winter. Don’t be a bore and stick to jeans and leggings. Wear that cute summer dress but mute it down with colored tights and knee high boots.

5. Thigh-High Boots: Whether its with jeans or a sweater dress, look sexy but classy with thigh high boots. My favorite pair right now is my Steve Madden ones in a crocodile textured leather (click here).

6. Eyebrow Palettes: I love my eyebrows. Everyone should too. My makeup routine now revolves around filling and perfecting my eyebrows.

7. Open-Toe Booties/Mules: I had a horrible experience buying a pair from Forever21 but I loved the ones from Nine West and from Steve Madden. They really do make or break an outfit.

8. Dark Maroon Lips: I love dark lips. With any outfit. It is so nice and there are so many shades and they just effortlessly depict winter and fall.

9. White Jeans: I’m sorry but I do not follow all the fashion rules. I do wear white after labor day. AND I love it.

10. Handle-Bags: Take my Tory Burch for example. They made my bummy outfit look more dressy while still being effortless. Color-blocking is also a plus.

These are just a few of the many many things I loved about winter. But stay tuned to hear more of all the things I love from winter and fall.

Until next time (and I promise that won’t be too long from now…)

ciao, cyn

and I’m back!

It’s been such a lonnnnnnnnnnnng time since I’ve blogged! I know I’ve been very distant but it’s honestly the crazy workload I’ve had. I haven’t posted on to here since before my trip to Mexico which was about two months ago. However! I vow to post on the blog at least once a week. I’ll be posting my favorite looks from my trip to Mexico and from any outfits any day after that.

Hope all has been well!

Beachy City

Today I will be posting about two great finds of mine and my outfit for the day.

  • Shea Moisture Frizz-Free Mousse
  • NYX Bora Bora Bronzer

I’ll start by saying that Shea Moisture is an absolute blessing for my hair. My hair has been damaged and destroyed because of the flat iron and for the past couple months I’ve been trying to revive my curls. Shea Moisture made this task so much easier. It truly remoisturizes my hair and curls it to the utmost perfection, without making my curls crunchy. These products don’t include any sulfates (which are really damaging to your hair!) and give it a lot of life and volume.

I have never purchased anything from NYX but I’ve heard amazing things. Sooooooo, I decided to give it a try since I already needed a new bronzer now that my Elf Golden Bronzer cracked and got destroyed (wahhhh!) However, I was not dissapointed. It truly left my face glowy and golden without looking cakey or fake. If anything, it enhaced my tan. For $8.99, I got a true summer glow.

Now, for my outfit of the day…Its really hot outside and although I’m feeling under the weather today, I thought I’d make the effort to look the part.
